• 1 Day: Perfect for a quick introduction to Coron! You can focus on highlights like a Mt. Tapyas hike for sunset, a quick dip in Maquinit Hot Springs, and dinner in Coron Town.
• 2 to 3 Days: Great for experiencing Coron’s must-see spots! Enjoy a Coron Super Ultimate Tour, relax at the Calauit Safari, and explore top beaches on the Island Escapade Tour.
• 4 Days or More: Ideal for a full experience! You’ll have time for everything above, plus additional activities like exploring more remote islands, diving to World War II shipwrecks, and visiting local markets. With extra days, you can truly unwind and get a feel for Coron’s island vibe.
Tip: For most travelers, three days is a solid amount to see Coron’s highlights, but if you have the time, adding an extra day lets you dive deeper and enjoy a slower pace.
2. DETERMINE YOUR HOTEL LOCATION
• Coron Town Proper: the most convenient choice for easy access to restaurants, tours, and local shops. If you’re after a quieter atmosphere, consider resorts a little outside town or on nearby private islands.
Tip: Book accommodations in advance, especially during peak season (December to May), to secure good options at a reasonable price. Coron Town has budget-friendly hostels as well as mid-range hotels, so there’s something for everyone.
3. DETERMINE YOUR IDEAL MODE OF TRANSPORTATION
Getting to Coron
• Via Busuanga Airport: Fly directly to Busuanga Airport then take a 30-45 minute van ride to Coron Town. We availed a roundtrip Airport to Hotel Van transfers from Klook for a hassle-free travel.
• Tricycles: These are the main mode of transportation around town, costing around PHP 10-20 for short distances. Alternatively, you can rent a scooter (PHP 300-500 per day) if you’re comfortable with island roads, or walk if you’re staying centrally.
Tip: Most island-hopping tours include transfers from hotel-boat from Coron Town. Book tours in advance through your accommodation or sites like Klook, especially during peak seasons to ensure availability and a smooth experience.
OUR CORON TRAVEL ITINERARY
We arrived in Coron and took a van from Busuanga Airport to our hotel in Coron Town. After checking in, we headed to Mt. Tapyas, which is a short walk from Coron Town. It was 700+ steps up Mt. Tapyas with a panoramic sunset view. Mt. Tapyas is included in Coron Town Half Day Tour. For dinner, we chose a local spot in town to end our first day.
DAY 2: CORON SUPER ULITIMATE TOUR
Day 3: CALAUIT SAFARI TOUR
Day 4: CORON ISLAND ESCAPADE TOUR
DAY 5: DEPARTURE
OTHER DAYTRIPS
Exploring Coron’s underwater treasures with a freediving buddy would’ve been an incredible experience. This tour takes you to the area’s famous shipwrecks and vibrant reefs, offering a unique chance to dive deep and see Coron’s aquatic life up close.
• Coron Electric Bike Tour in Palawan
This electric bike tour would’ve been perfect for exploring Coron at a relaxed pace. We’d have loved to cruise around town and surrounding areas on an e-bike, getting a local’s perspective on Coron’s landscapes and landmarks, all while avoiding traffic.
• Coron Town Half Day Tour
For a half-day of Coron’s top attractions, this tour is a great pick. We’d have visited key spots like Mt. Tapyas, the public market, and Maquinit Hot Springs, learning more about the town’s culture and history along the way.
HELPFUL TIPS
• Book in Advance: Especially for popular tours and accommodations during peak season.
• Pack for Water Adventures: Snorkeling gear, waterproof bags, and reef-safe sunscreen are essentials.
• Cash is King: Few places accept cards, so carry cash. ATMs are available in town but may run out.
• Stay Hydrated and Sun-Protected: Bring a reusable water bottle and stay covered, especially during the island tours.
