TRAVEL TIPS:
A. ACCOMMODATIONS, TOURS AND PRE-TRAVEL ESSENTIALS
↠ ACCOMMODATIONS
Book your hotels through Booking or Agoda. These sites offer pay at the hotel or credit card payments. I highly suggest booking hotels near the Iloilo & Bacolod Port. The second concern would be the amenities and overall aesthetics of the place. I prefer hotels with air-conditioning, own toilet and bath, WIFI and breakfast included. Pools, gardens and other amenities would be a plus. I look for cheap hotels since I only stay there for sleeping.
↠ TOURS
I suggest these local tour guides:
Iloilo City Tour:
Guimaras Tour:
↠ INTERNET AND COMMUNICATION
Smart Signal is stronger than Globe. We rely on mobile data and utilize the hotel wifi.
↠ TRANSFERS AND TRANSPORTATION
From the New Silay-Bacolod Airport, there are shuttle service that will drop you at your hotel. It has a fixed rate of 200PHP per person. When heading to the airport or transferring from Silay City to Bacolod City or vice versa, you may opt to hire a taxi or ride a Ceres bus at the Bacolod North Bus Terminal.
↠ PH TRAVEL TAX 1620PHP
↠ Download applications you need for navigation as well as contacting drivers and hotels.
B. GETTING AROUND
↠ Walking
↠ Grab App
↠ Taxi and tricycles
C. WHAT TO EAT
↠ Bacolod: Chicken Inasal, Cansi, Seafood, Piyaya, Napoleones, Senoritas
↠ Iloilo: Batchoy, Pancit Molo, Seafood, Biscocho, Tsokolateng Tablea, Butterscotch
↠ Guimaras: Mango, Mango Pizza, Mango Coffee
D. TIPS
↠ Places to eat: most of them are karinderia and these are the cheapest choices!
↠ Bring your water bottle.
↠ Book cheap hotels near city centers and ports for accessibility.
↠ Know the places where you want to go and build your itinerary around it. Then cross off places that are too far away (unless you really want to go)
