WAWA DAM, RIZAL: Itinerary and Budget

Wawa Dam is just one ride away from Cubao. With a route from Cubao to Rodriguez, Rizal (formerly known as Montalban), Sitio Wawa holds two caves, namely, Pamitinan Cave and the Bat Cave, the mountain peaks of Mt. Pamitinan and Mt. Binacayan, and the famous Wawa Dam.

The dam was built during the American Era, when the Angat Dam was constructed, the dam was later on turned into a tourist spot. The best time to visit is from January to June. The place is incredibly gaining popularity throughout the metro. Locals started to construct stores, karaoke and cottages along the area for the tourists to enjoy.

The place resembles the famous Villa Escudero in Quezon. Bamboo bridges were built to get to the bottom of the man-made waterfalls, cottages and stores. Huge rocks can be seen below the dam, similar to the Tinipak River of Mt. Daraitan in Tanay, Rizal.

We visited the place the day after we hiked Mt. Binacayan and Mt. Pamitinan. Sore bodies and tired feet, this place gave us a relaxing feeling. From all the places I have visited, this place holds my heart. The locals are very welcoming. I just hope the place can be preserved and both tourists and locals can take good care of it. The place offers a lot more. You can rent a “balsa” (bamboo rafting) and stay overnight. Aside from mountaineers, a lot of bikers visit this place too.
